Lesson Information
Age Requirement: Students must be able to read fluently and/or be at least 6 years old. (exceptions may be made for younger students who are fluent readers and show express interest in taking piano lessons)
Lessons are available as 1/2 hour & 1 hour weekly sessions.
- 1/2 hour lessons are recommended for beginner and young students (beginners, regardless of age, and, more specifically, beginning youth students under the age of 12).
- 1 hour lessons are recommended for advanced students who are in need of a more detailed lesson structure and who are studying a more advanced style of music (classical pieces, more advanced theory, etc.)
Curriculum Information:
I primarily teach from the Alfred Basic Piano Library series of books. These books are an excellent foundational series for beginners of all ages to start with. I also supplement with flashcards and theory resources that I feel any given student might benefit from.
For students who already have the proper foundation and are looking for a more advanced form of instruction, I offer a well thought out and individually based selection of songs and theory routines that I feel can best benefit the student. The song selection can vary from popular hits to classical staples, most of which are chosen from the NNMTA syllabus of songs- which has been arranged by skill level so that the songs can be chosen carefully to best fit the individual level of each student.
In addition, I always encourage all of my students to select and learn any and all songs they would like, on a student by student basis. (This includes, but is not limited to, popular songs, movie theme music, contemporary piano pieces, religious selections, etc.)
My students are taught proper practicing techniques so that they can learn the best way to be self sufficient as they learn their music, as well as learning the best way to practice to ensure the easiest path to learning any given song.
I also love rewarding my student's hard work, and give out prizes and treats regularly. Because, above all, learning music should be fun!
Pricing:
1/2 hour weekly lessons: $25.00
1 hour weekly lessons: $50.00
*Parents/Students are also responsible to purchase all curriculum and other materials on an as needed basis. Certain materials will be purchased in a reimbursement format. There are materials I have express access to that I will purchase on a student by student basis. These materials include but are not limited to:
- Solo song selections off of the "Music Notes" app or other sheet music websites. (sheetmusicplus.com, Amazon, etc.)
- Any and all lent materials that have been in a student's possession for more that 2 weeks without the purchase of a replacement. (I have a limited amount of curriculum that I will lend out in certain circumstances, i.e. a student forgets their materials, a new student has yet to purchase the needed materials, etc. I do not have every copy of every book needed. So this practice will be on a student by student basis upon availability. If any material has been in a student's possession for more that 2 weeks, and, after reminders, replacement materials have not been ordered/purchased, I will require reimbursement.)
Payment Structure:
Payment is due at the first lesson of every month and includes fees for all the lessons in that month (if "x" month has 4 weeks, and a student is taking 1/2 hour lessons, $100.00 would be due at the first lesson of that month. For hourly lessons, adjust the amount accordingly).
If a parent/student knows of a date that will be missed before the next payment cycle is due, and notice is given, the week(s) that will be missed will be deducted from the scheduled payment amount.
Cancellation Policy:
If a cancellation happens (life happens), as long as notice is given at least 2 hours prior to the start of the scheduled lesson time, a make up lesson will be offered. If a make up lesson cannot be scheduled, a credit will be applied to the next month's payment.
If no notice is given, or if notice is given after the 2 hour window, no make up lesson will be offered, and no credit will be issued.
Only 1 cancellation is permitted each month. Any other cancellations will not be credited and no make up will be issued unless it is an emergency situation. That will be determined at my discretion.
No Show Policy:
After two no call/no shows, a probationary reminder will be issued, reminding the parent/student of the cancellation policy.
If there are more than two no call/no show lessons, I as the teacher reserve the right to terminate piano instruction with the student and will provide suggestions for other piano instructors.
